Position Title: Electronics Technician III Position Type: Onsite Location: North Charleston, SC Clearance: Active Secret
Waypoint’s client is seeking highly skilled and motivated Electronics Technician with specialized experience in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of Navy and Marine Corps Supplemental Weather Radar Systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on the radar equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. This position requires a strong understanding of electronic principles, radar theory.
Responsibilities:
Performing scheduled preventative maintenance inspections and services on radar systems, including but not limited to: antennas, transmitters, receivers, signal processors, and displays
Troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctions in radar equipment using diagnostic tools, test equipment, and technical documentation
Repairing or replacing defective components, modules, and wiring in radar systems
Calibrating and aligning radar systems to meet performance specifications
Documenting all maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications in accordance with company procedures
Maintaining accurate records of equipment history, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory
Assisting in the installation and commissioning of new radar equipment
Providing technical support to other technicians and operators on radar-related issues
Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures
Staying current with advancements in radar technology and maintenance techniques
Participating in training programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge
Traveling to remote sites as required for maintenance and repair activities
Maintaining a clean and organized work area
Requirements:
Associate's degree in Electronics Technology or a related field (or equivalent military training and experience)
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in electronics maintenance, with a strong focus on radar systems
Thorough understanding of electronic principles, including analog and digital circuitry, RF transmission, and signal processing
Proficiency in using electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and multi-meters
Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
Desired:
Specific experience with radars
Experience with manipulating Linux/UNIX systems via the command line
Experience with network communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet, TCP/IP)
Familiarity with computer-based maintenance management systems (CMMS)
Experience with soldering and PCB repair
Knowledge of safety regulations related to radar equipment
Experience with specific diagnostic software used for radar maintenance
